WINTER STORM WARNING TUESDAY 9AM TO WEDNESDAY 6AM. A large winter storm is expected to impact nearly all of Iowa Tuesday into Tuesday Night with moderate to heavy snow initially, followed by a wintry mix with light freezing rain into Tuesday Night. Widespread snows of 4" or more are anticipated, with an axis of heavier snowfall, possibly greater than 6" from central into east central Iowa. The snow is expected to transition to a wintry mix, including light freezing rain during the evening before ending southeast before daybreak. This will result in widespread travel hazards and impacts across nearly the entire state. The weight of the heavy, wet snow and total precipitation may also result in sagging trees and possibly broken tree limbs. Some power outages are possible. Motorists are advised to check the latest forecasts and road conditions before heading out, and alter travel plans to before or after the storm if possible.
