Suspect Arrested for Brandishing a Knife and Resisting Arrest

On Monday, December 28, 2020, at approximately 12:51 PM, Sausalito Police Officers were dispatched to Dunphy Park (1600 Bridgeway) regarding a potential fight starting between two parties. One of the parties was said to be brandishing a knife towards the other while a verbal altercation was taking place. The main aggressor was described as an Asian male adult.

Sausalito Police officers immediately responded to Dunphy Park. Upon arrival, officers recognized Chris Bin (a 38-year-old Asian male out of Marin County) based on numerous other previous law enforcement contacts. Officers were also aware that Bin has a history of brandishing knives and attempting to start fights.

Officers made contact with Bin who was behaving erratically. Bin refused to comply with the commands that the officers were giving him. He continued to verbally and physically challenge the officers throughout the contact. Officers were able to take Bin into custody without incident. Bin became erratic again during transportation to jail causing the officer to have to pull over and further restrain Bin. While Bin was being re-secured to safely continue his ride to jail he kicked at one of the officers, slightly grazing his face. Bin was finally booked at the Marin County Jail for brandishing a knife in a rude, angry and threatening manner, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer.

Due to the dangerous nature of the crime and Bin’s past history, the Sausalito Police Department requested and was granted a bail enhancement. Bin’s bail was set at $50,000.
