The Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-car crash that lead to the death of one of the drivers. The crash occurred at approximately 8:10 AM on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 on Greenville Road near River Run Trail south of Greenville in Eureka Township.
The initial investigation revealed that a grey 2008 Mercury Mountaineer, driven by a 58-year-old Stanton man, was travelling south on Greenville Road. As the Mercury entered a slight curve in the roadway, the vehicle continued straight and into the path of a northbound blue 2009 Pontiac Torrent driven by a 62-year-old Belding woman. The driver of the Pontiac died at the scene as a result of the crash. The Stanton man and his passenger, a 57-year-old Stanton woman, were treated at Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville for minor injuries.
The road was snow covered at the time. All of the people involved in the crash were properly belted. The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting with the crash and investigation were the Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services, the Greenville Department of Public Safety, Montcalm County Central Dispatch, and Montcalm County Road Commission.
