Northfield Twp Police handled 282 calls for service this month

12/01/2020 *Arrest -Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile (Car Theft)
Jade Lane – Officers assisting a local department recovered a stolen vehicle, determined the location of the suspect and made an arrest of the suspect involved in the theft.

12/01/2020 *Arrest – Operating While Intoxicated
Main St & Schrum – Officers responded to a vehicle in the ditch and discovered a female driver who admitted she had been drinking alcohol prior to driving. HVA transported the driver to St Joe's for medical evaluation and Officers continued the investigation which revealed an initial crash at Main St & East Shore. The driver consented to a blood draw and charges are pending the lab results. The vehicle was impounded.

12/03/2020 *Found Property -Samsung Phone
Barker/ Timbercrest – On Saturday 11/28/2020 a Black Samsung Phone was found and the finder turned it in to Northfield Police on December 3. If anyone lost the phone in the area of Barker & Timbercrest, contact the Northfield Police Department; as NTPD was unable to determine ownership.

12/04/2020 *Retail Fraud – Theft
6800 Block of Whitmore Lake Rd – An employee discovered a lock cut and property missing. The investigation revealed that on 12/03/20 at 6 pm, two white males arrived at the business and one suspect entered the business to set up for the theft of a welder and generator. The vehicle involved is described as white or grey Jeep Cherokee with a plow. The case remains under investigation. If anyone has information regarding this incident they are asked to contact the Northfield Twp Police.

12/05/2020 *Arrest --Felonious Assault (Assault with a Dangerous Weapon)
Whitmore Lake & Northfield Church – Officers responded to a bleeding male laying on the shoulder of the road. When officers arrived they determined a physical altercation had occurred between two known parties. The investigation revealed a possible location of the suspect and Officers along with Michigan State Police were able to locate and arrest the suspect. The victim was transported to U of M with non-life threatening injuries and the Prosecutor authorized a three count warrant for the assault.

12/07/2020 *Animal Neglect
East Shore – A wondering dog was reported as a possible neglected/abused animal. An Officer was able to determine the owner of the dog, investigate the circumstances and discuss the condition of the dog with a vet who had currently treated the animal. The case appeared unfounded at the time of the report.

12/07/2020 *Trespass Notification
Pontiac Trail – Officers were called to investigate an incident of an unlawful entry. The investigation revealed that the suspect had ties to the residence and therefore legally allowed to enter. Although the investigation further revealed the ties were about to be terminated; the Officer issued a trespass notice for any future return.

12/08/22020 *Illegal Dumping
4500 Block of East Five Mile – A property owner reported that debris was dumped or pushed onto his property. A person of interest was named and the case remains under investigation.

12/11/2020 *Larceny Auto Parts
6900 Block of Whitmore Lake -A Manager from Dexter Lafontaine Chevrolet reported that six catalytic converters were stolen from their stored vehicles. The case remains under investigation.

12/15/2020 *Traffic – Vehicle Impound
North Territorial & U. S. 23 – An Officer observed a speeding vehicle. Upon stop of the vehicle the 55 year old male stated the vehicle belonged to a family member and his driver’s license was expired. The Officer further determined that the vehicle was uninsured. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was issued citations for several violations. T

12/17/2020 *Identity Theft
200 Block of Lake View – A victim reported that he received calls from a collection agency attempting to collect on a loan the victim had not taken out. At the time of the report the victim was not financially impacted, but was advised to check his credit report for additional claims against it. The case remains under investigation.

12/17/2020 *Identity Theft
1000 Block of Jennings – A victim reported that he recently discovered a Home Depot credit account that he had not signed up for. At the time of reporting the victim had not suffered any monetary losses.

12/18/2020 *Home Invasion
7400 Block of Nollar Rd – The complainant stated that his home which was under construction was secured on 12/17 at 10 pm and on 12/18 at 11:30 am, the complainant discovered the back door pried open and several power tools and generators missing. Officers collected evidence and the case remains under investigation. If anyone has information regarding this incident they are asked to call he Northfield Police

12/28/2020 * Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card
8300 Block of Main St – A complainant reported that several unauthorized purchases had been made using a business credit card. The issuing bank was notified and the account was made whole. A police report was made for documentation purposes.

12/28/2020 *Larceny
300 Block of Six Mile – A complainant reported that while withdrawing cash from an ATM machine he was distracted and turned away from the machine. Upon turning back to receive the cash, the complainant discovered that there was no money. No suspects were identified at the time of the report. The case remains under investigation awaiting a review of video footage.

12/30/2020 *Lost /Stolen Property—Recovered
8600 Block of Main St – A complainant reported that some time over the last several months – a ring turned up missing. During the investigation, the Officer received information that the ring had been found. The case remains open pending confirmation of the found property.
