A single vehicle fatal traffic collision occurred on December 31st in the area of Caliente Road / El Centro Road

SUMMARY:
On December 31, 2020, at approximately 9:55 p.m., deputies from the City of Hesperia, along with rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department, responded to the intersection of Caliente Road and El Centro Road reference a single vehicle roll over collision involving a pickup truck. Despite first responder efforts, Fire personnel pronounced the driver of the vehicle deceased at the scene.
The Hesperia Station Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicates the pickup veered onto the east dirt shoulder of Caliente Road then overcorrected and collided with a small dirt embankment on the west curb line edge of Caliente Road. The pickup then overturned several times. The 45-year-old male driver of the pickup was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected as the pickup rolled. It is believed alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision.
The collision remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact Deputy D. Whitson from the Hesperia Station.
