Compton, Calif. – 2 drivers were arrested for DUI while conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, January 8, 2021.
The checkpoint was held on Santa Fe Ave., at Auto Drive South from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
6 drivers were arrested / cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license and 3 vehicles were towed. 1 driver was additionally charged with an outstanding arrest warrant for a probation violation.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
As the state continues to work to stop the spread of COVID-19, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will continue hold DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoints throughout the year.
