On Saturday, January 9, 2021, at approximately 6:35 am, Shorewood Police Officers were dispatched to an armed robbery that took place in 4600 block of N Woodruff Ave. The victim reported two black male subjects with guns had forced him out of his car at gunpoint, and stole his vehicle and phone. A short while later Glendale police officers observed the stolen auto in the 900 block of W. Hampton Ave. The stolen vehicle had crashed in a ditch and the two suspects involved in this incident were standing by the vehicle when the Glendale officer initially observed the stolen auto. The suspects attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended by Glendale PD.
One suspect was in possession of a semiautomatic handgun when he was taken into custody. Additionally an airsoft gun was also recovered from inside the stolen vehicle.
The Shorewood Police Department will be seeking criminal charges for this incident. No other details will be released at this time.
