Advisory

Possible Ice And Snow Weather Alert! SHERIFF VICTOR HILL

A low pressure system is expected to move across the northern Gulf of Mexico overnight through Tuesday. This system will bring good moisture to the region, and with cold temperatures already in place, snow may mix with rain at times across the northern parts of the state. Any precipitation amounts will remain light, especially since the low pressure system should remain well to the south, mainly across the Florida panhandle or northern Gulf. Widespread precipitation should taper off by early Tuesday morning. The highest snowfall accumulations are anticipated across the far north Georgia mountains with amounts up to half an inch possible. This is especially likely at elevations of 1500 feet and above. For areas outside of the mountains, but north and northwest of metro Atlanta, amounts from a trace to a couple of tenths of an inch are possible, mainly on grassy areas or elevated surfaces. For metro Atlanta and south, accumulating snow is not expected. If the track of the low pressure ends up being further north than currently forecast, precipitation amounts could end up being slightly higher. The combination of wet roadways and minimum temperatures in the lower to middle 30s early Tuesday morning may lead to a few slick spots on bridges and overpasses.
