On January 5th, at approximately 5:20 am, Morgan Hill Police were dispatched to Galvan Park, located at 17666 Crest Ave, on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, MHPD patrol officers contacted a male adult victim with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. EMS and Fire responded to the scene and the victim was transported to Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries. MHPD secured the crime scene and initiated an investigation.

During the investigation, it was determined the suspect vehicle was traveling northbound on Crest Ave prior to the shooting. The suspect vehicle entered the parking lot of Galvan Park and stopped near the public bathrooms for several minutes. The suspect vehicle then began to exit and slowed as it approached the male victim standing near the baseball field. An occupant inside the suspect vehicle fired a shot at the victim and fled the scene. The suspect vehicle fled the area northbound on Crest Ave and is believed to be a dark gray or black sedan occupied by multiple subjects. Officers located evidence at the scene and are reviewing video surveillance.

MHPD Detectives are actively investigating the incident. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. The attached photographs are of a male subject exiting the public bathroom just prior to the shooting.
