SUSPECT(S): Andrew Downs, age 25, a resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): Robert Downs, age 51, a resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On January 7, 2021, at approximately 8:10 p.m., a citizen reported a male screaming for help in the driveway of a neighboring residence. Deputies responded to the location and found Robert Downs suffering from a stab wound to his chest. Medical personnel responded to the scene. He was transported to Loma Linda Medical Center by American Medical Response for a higher level of care due to the type of injury received. Through investigation, it was determined Downs was in a physical fight with his son, Andrew Downs, who was intoxicated. During the fight which took place inside the home, Downs was stabbed by Andrew with a broken alcohol bottle, which was later recovered. Andrew was placed under arrest and booked at the San Bernardino Sheriff's Central Detention Center. He is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
