SLPD Officers Recover Nine Guns in One Week.
In the last week, San Leandro Police Officers have recovered nine guns from various investigations. Three of the firearms recovered were “Ghost Guns.” Ghost guns are weapons that lack a serial number, or the serial number has been removed, making it nearly impossible to trace.
- On 1/6/21 at 2:30 AM, Officers conducted a traffic stop and recovered a “Ghost Gun” with a 36 round, extended magazine.
- On 1/6/21 at 7:40 PM, Officers contacted a subject inside a suspicious vehicle and recovered a firearm and illegal drugs.
- On 1/7/21 at 1 AM, Officers contacted a suspicious individual and recovered a handgun from his person.
- On 1/7/21 at 3 AM, Officers responded to a home invasion robbery and recovered two handguns, along with arresting two suspects.
- On 1/9/21 at 3 AM, Officers conducted a vehicle stop and recovered a handgun.
- On 1/10/21 at 11 PM, Officers responded to a disturbance call and heard gunshots. They recovered two firearms, one was a handgun, and the other was a rifle; both were “Ghost Guns.”
- On 1/11/21 at 11:30 PM, Officers responded to a residential burglary and contacted a suspect near the area. A handgun was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
