Crime Blotter for the Week of January 3-9, 2021

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of January 03, 2021– January 09, 2021.        

January 03, 2021

  • Burglary (Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft near the 3500 Block of Encanto Parkway. The theft occurred on 01-03-21, between 1:00 pm and 2:31 pm. The victim stated unknown persons shattered the rear driver’s side window to her vehicle and stole five water bottles. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $3.
 
January 04, 2021
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 1200 Block of Tuckaway Lane. The victim’s Nissan Pathfinder was stolen on 01-04-21. Temple Sheriff Station recovered the vehicle shortly after it was reported stolen. One person in custody.
  • Grand Theft (Shoplifting):
An informant reported a theft at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target). Loss prevention reviewing store surveillance video saw a female adult entering the store earlier in the day, select miscellaneous cosmetics items from within the store, and placed them in her shopping cart. The suspect exited the store, making no attempt to pay for the items. Surveillance video captured the incident. The estimated loss was $1,765.
 
January 05, 2021
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 2200 Block of Huntington Drive. The victim’s Honda Civic was stolen on 01-05-21 between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. Temple Sheriff Station recovered the vehicle on 01-06-21. No one in custody.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 1300 Block of Mountain Avenue. The victim’s Ford F150 was stolen between 01-04-21, 4:00 pm, and 01-05-21, 7:00 am. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The vehicle is still outstanding.
 
January 06, 2021
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 3000 Block of Brookridge Road. The victim’s Aztex Trailer was stolen between 12-15-20, 8:20 pm, and 01-06-21, 6:26 pm. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The vehicle is still outstanding.
 
January 07, 2021
  • Grand Theft:
A victim reported a theft by false pretenses near the 900 Block of Highland Avenue.The victim stated that on 12-22-20, at approximately 11:05 pm, unknown persons contacted her by false pretense and requested goods/services. The estimated loss was $1,000.
 
January 08, 2021
  • Burglary (Residential):
A victim reported a theft near the 1000 Block of Portola Drive. The victim stated between 01-07-21, 6:00 pm, and 01-08-21, 10:30 am, unknown persons pried the lock off the detached garage and stole several musical instruments. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $6000.
  • Burglary (Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft near the 1600 Block of Mountain Avenue. The theft occurred on 01-08-21 between 9:30 am and 5:00 pm. The victim stated unknown persons entered his locked vehicle and stole a pair of sunglasses and a flashlight. Deputies did not find any forced entry into the car, nor did they locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $160.
  • Burglary (Residential):
A victim reported a theft near the 800 Block of Junipero Drive. The victim stated between 01-07-21, 10:00 pm, and 01-08-21, 7:00 am, unknown persons pried open the detached garage and stole a computer tower. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $300.
  • Petty Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft from her unlocked vehicle near the 1000 Block of Portola Drive. Between 01-07-21, 6:00 pm, and 01-08-21, 10:00 am, unknown persons entered her unlocked vehicle and stole miscellaneous paperwork. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $10.
  • Burglary (Business, Attempt):
An informant reported an attempt theft at 1856 Huntington Drive (Cabrera’s Restaurant).The victim stated between 01-07-21, 11:00 pm, and 01-08-21, 5:42 am, unknown persons pried open the rear door to the business and attempted to force entry into the restaurant. The suspects were unable to make entry into the second security door. Surveillance video captured the incident. There was no loss.
 
January 09, 2021
  • No significant activity.
CRIME PREVENTION TIP
 
Driving Safely:
  • Keep your car in good running condition.  Make sure there’s enough gas to get where you’re going and back.
  • Turn the ignition off and take your keys with you, even if you have to run inside for one minute.
  • Roll up the windows and lock car doors, even if you’re coming right back.  Check inside and out before getting in.
  • Avoid parking in isolated areas.  If you are uncomfortable, ask a security guard or store staff to watch you or escort you to your car.
  • Drive to the nearest gas station, open business, or other well lighted, crowded area to get help if you think you are being followed.  Don’t head home.
  • Use your cellular phone, if you have one, to call the police.  If you are being followed or you’ve seen an accident.  Otherwise, stay off your cellular phone while driving.
