Homicide Update

On January 12, 2020, the shooting victim from January 2, 2021, passed away after succumbing to his injuries.  The victim was identified as 21-year-old Robert Marks from Gilroy.

This homicide is being actively investigated by Gilroy Police Department’s Investigations Division.  If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Detective Greathead at (408) 846-0373.

**Original message on January 4, 2021**

On January 1, 2021 at approximately 8:10 pm, Gilroy police officers responded to the 500 block of Fairview Drive on the report of gunshots.  Upon arrival officers found several vehicles had been struck by gunfire and it was believed multiple suspects were involved.  No victims or suspects were located.  A vehicle that was believed to be involved was located in the area and impounded for evidence processing (GPD case 21-20).

On January 2, 2021 just before 9:00 pm, Gilroy police officers, Gilroy fire personnel, and medics responded to the Santa Teresa Boulevard and Mantelli Drive on the report of a shooting that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, officers found the driver of a vehicle in the intersection had been shot and sustained life threatening injuries.  The driver, a 21-year-old adult male, was transported to a local trauma center and remains in critical condition.  The suspect(s) fled prior to police arrival (GPD case 21-32). 

On January 3, 2021 at approximately 9:30 pm, Gilroy police officers, Gilroy fire personnel, and medics responded to the 400 block of Fairview Drive on the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival they located a 35-year-old adult male who had sustained at least one gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to a local trauma center where he was pronounced deceased.  The suspect(s) fled prior to police arrival (GPD case 21-49).

The names of the victims are being withheld at this time.
