As the COVID-19 vaccine rolls out to communities, we remind residents to be aware of potential scams!
As the COVID-19 vaccine rolls out to most communities, we take this moment to remind our residents to always be aware of potential scams. As Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Sheriff Alex Villanueva shared during his Facebook live event earlier today, would be COVID-19 scams will soon become popular.
COVID-19 vaccines will be offered at no charge throughout the country. Depending on your insurance provider, there may be a "co-pay" or administrative fee to your insurance company, but no one should ever be charged an outrageous amount to receive the vaccine. Neither the Department of Health nor the CDC will be going door to door collecting personal information, nor offering the vaccine.
Whether you decide to opt in or opt out of the vaccine, that is your personal business. But we make scams and crimes our business!
Be on the lookout, be wise and if you see something suspicious, say something!
Lancaster Sheriff’s Station polices the City of Lancaster, Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, and the unincorporated communities of Antelope Acres, Lake Los Angeles, and Quartz Hill in the Antelope Valley.
