Crime Bulletin for the Week of January 4-10, 2021
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Notable Cases
On Tuesday, 01-05-21 at 5:40 a.m., a 54-year old Daly City resident was the victim of an assault with a deadly weapon via a loaded handgun being pointed at him by an unknown suspect. This occurred during the commission of a commercial burglary at the parking of an apartment complex at 15 Como Avenue. The victim waited a day before making the report.
On Tuesday, 01-05-21 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Officer Brenes and Officer Martin were dispatched to a residence on the 100 block of Chester Street to conduct a welfare check on a female after she had not shown up for work for several days. Officers tried for an hour for the resident to answer the door, and the property manager let the officers into the residence. Officers found the 35-year old female was intoxicated and unable to care for her 9-year old son. The female made suicidal statements and was placed on a mental health hold. Her son was released to the custody of Child Protective Services. This case will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for a complaint sought against the female for willful cruelty to a child.
On Wednesday, 01-06-21 at 11:26 a.m., Officer Castillo was dispatched to the unit block of Westpark Drive on a report of a suspicious vehicle. The reporting party said a vehicle was broken into, and someone was sleeping inside the vehicle. Officer Mulitaoupele responded to assist, and they saw a blue Toyota Tacoma with the left front window smashed. They saw a subject who appeared to be transient lying on the bench seat. The officers asked the subject to step out of the vehicle, and the subject told the officers that he bought the vehicle from a friend. The victim did not know the name of his friend, and he told the officers he parked the vehicle the night before so he could sleep. The officers asked the subject why he broke the window if he had the keys to the vehicle, and the subject did not know. Officer Mulitaoupele contacted the owner of the vehicle who lived near where the vehicle was parked and the owner did not know the subject. Officer Castillo arrested the 40-year old transient for vehicle burglary and transported him to jail.
On Friday, 01-08-21 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., a 20-year old San Francisco resident was the victim of an assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) while he was in his vehicle exiting the parking lot of the Sun Valley Dairy Liquor. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his hand. This case is being investigation by our Investigations Unit and the San Francisco Police Department.
On Saturday, 01-09-21 at approximately 7:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a carjacking that occurred on the 600 block of Sylvan Street. The reporting party, a 17-year old Daly City resident, said he was held by gunpoint by three subjects, and his mother’s silver Chevrolet Camaro was stolen. The victim told Officer Ciucci that he was a passenger driving around with his friend who he knew for approximately one month. The victim said he received a text from a friend who was at his apartment the day prior, and they drove to the City to pick up the friend. The victim said they drove to get marijuana somewhere in the Lakeview area. The victim said during the drive, his friend stopped the vehicle, and another subject entered the back of the vehicle and sat behind the victim. The victim said one of the subject’s approached the driver’s side and took his friend out of the driver’s seat at gunpoint. The victim said then he was taken out of the car but was allowed back into the car, leaving his friend (the driver) at the scene. The victim said the subjects in the vehicle asked him for his address, and one of the suspects drove to his apartment. The victim said he was held at gunpoint during the drive, and the suspect took his phone and threatened to shoot him if he turned around. The victim said the driver hit him once in the face. The victim said they arrived at the apartment, and three suspects followed him to the apartment door and entered with him. The victim said the suspects stole items, and one of the suspects got into his mother’s Camaro and drove it out of the apartment garage. About four hours later, our dispatchers notified us that the Antioch Police Department was in pursuit of the Camaro in this case. The Camaro went down an embankment in Pittsburg, and deputies were able to take the driver into custody. Officer Premenko arrived on scene and conducted an area check where the suspect was located, and he found two cellphones and a replica Glock BB gun. The suspect, a 16-year old San Francisco resident, was booked into the Youth Services Center for carjacking, kidnapping, and home invasion robbery. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
