JUST IN CASE BH - Emergency Preparedness Program Information

DON’T BE CAUGHT UNPREPARED IN A CRISIS…

Beverly Hills recently launched ‘JUST IN CASE BH,’ a City-led, neighborhood-based emergency preparedness program to bring together Beverly Hills residents, businesses, fire, police, and other City agencies to coordinate before, during and after disaster strikes. A key element is dividing the City into geographic zones, each supporting itself during an emergency or disaster.

What is Just In Case BH?
JUST IN CASE BH brings Residents, Businesses, and all City services together by seamlessly assisting each other before, during and after emergencies through disaster preparedness, organizational leadership, and communication. During a large-scale emergency, as the police and fire departments tackle the broader issues, individuals may be on their own for 24-72 hours. Just In Case BH, with its volunteer and communication structure, provides residents and businesses with a way to be pro-active in their own safety.

How is Just in Case BH different from the city’s prior emergency programs?
Just In Case BH is a collaboration between community members (residential & business), and city personnel, such as the Fire & Police Departments. The program will consist of emergency preparedness training, crime prevention, and communication networks for disseminating information while negating rumors or misleading reports.

How does it work?

  • Identifying/Recruiting community members with specific professions and/or training that may be valuable during a disaster, or large-scale city emergency. These individuals will be assigned to regional zones according to where they live within our community.
  • Recruiting community members who would like to work or train as volunteers.
How do we receive information?
The City's primary communications platform is Everbridge, a national program, in which residents and business owners sign up to receive emergency notifications. If interested, subscribe HERE. JUST IN CASE BH is on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well as on our official website, www.JustinCaseBH.org.

Additionally, email distribution lists and telephone trees will be created to ensure that critical communications reach the largest segment of our community.

Who will manage the messaging and communication?
There will be a tiered system of messaging and communication with the City's Communications team, Police and Fire Departments working in partnership with the community.

How much time or involvement will the program require from its members?
This depends on how much training an individual has, as well as the position.

The positions include:
  • Zone Coordinators (nine) will meet quarterly with Police and Fire Department Liaisons; open discussion with questions/concerns, along with departmental specific public training points
  • Neighborhood Coordinators disseminate this information to their respective Block Captains
  • Block Captains disseminate information to their respective neighbors.
We would like to hear from you!
The City seeks your input before scheduling Zoom meetings. Please complete the brief survey before 1/22/2021 by clicking HERE.
