Deputies arrest two men after conducting a vehicle check

INCIDENT: Possession of Heroin for Sales / Possession of Ammunition by Prohibited Person
LOCATION: Yucaipa Boulevard & 3rd Street, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Jason Carter, 51-year-old resident of Calimesa
Leo Prado, 54-year-old resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Thursday, January 14, 2021, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Yucaipa deputies initiated a vehicle check at the Express Gas Station and contacted Leo Prado and Jason Carter. During a search of Carter’s vehicle, deputies located approximately 8.8 ounces of suspected black tar heroin, plastic baggies used for packaging narcotics, a digital scale, US currency and ammunition.
Prado was arrested for possession of heroin for sales. Carter was arrested for possession of heroin for sales and possession of ammunition by prohibited person. Prado and Carter were booked into Central Detention Center and are being held in lieu of $150,000.00.
