Drug Investigation nets 2.2 pounds of suspected cocaine
On January 11, 2021, detectives with the Cloquet Police Department received a tip from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) that a package containing suspected cocaine would be delivered to a residence in Cloquet.
Acting on that information, CPD detectives, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, Minneapolis Airport Police, Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fond du Lac Police Department, began an investigation and later executed a search warrant at a home in the 400 block of 8th street.
During the execution of the warrant, a woman was seen entering a vehicle with the suspected package. Officers stopped the vehicle before it left the property and seized the package. The preliminary field-test on the substance in the package tested positive for cocaine. It had a gross field weight of 2.2 pounds.
The estimated street value of the suspected cocaine recovered was $29,000.00 and could have significantly impacted our community.
A 40-year-old Duluth woman was taken into custody in connection with this investigation. She has not been formally charged at this time. The investigation is on-going.
