Deputy Angelini arrested Hovik Hokobyan during a traffic stop for possession of a stolen Smith & Wesson handgun

LOCATION: Barton Road / Palm Avenue, Grand Terrace
SUSPECT: Hovik Hokobyan, 31 year old resident of Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY:
On January 19, 2021 at approximately 10:54 p.m., Deputy J. Angelini from the Sheriff's Central Station, conducted a traffic stop in the area of Barton Road and Palm Avenue in the city of Grand Terrace. Angelini contacted the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Hovik Hakobyan. A record check of Hakobyan revealed he did not have a valid California driver's license. A vehicle search was conducted prior to towing the vehicle and incident to arrest. During a search of the vehicle, Angelini located a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun underneath the driver's seat. A record check of the handgun revealed it was stolen out of Arizona.
Hakobyan was arrested for PC 25850( c )( 2 ); Possession of a stolen loaded firearm and PC 25400( c )( 2 ); Possession of a concealed stolen weapon. Hakobyan was booked at Central Detention Center where he is being held on $50,000 bail.
