Pedestrian in Monday Crash Succumbs to Injuries
The pedestrian involved in Monday evening’s hit-and-run crash on Amador Avenue has died as a result of his injuries.
Las Cruces police learned that 67-year-old Arturo Guillen died from his injuries late Tuesday evening at University Medical Center of El Paso.
The crash occurred about 7:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, near the intersection of Amador Avenue and Espina Street. Traffic investigators learned that Guillen was crossing the road near the intersection when he was struck by a white pickup.
The driver of the pickup failed to stop and render aid. The driver’s identity and whereabouts were unknown until Tuesday when he contacted police and acknowledged his involvement in the crash.
Traffic investigators have interviewed the 21-year-old driver and obtained a search warrant to gather evidence from his white Dodge pickup. Charges in this case are pending.
