On January 22, 2021, at approximately 10:30 a.m., deputies from the Wasco Substation were dispatched to the 1700 block of Poplar Avenue for an unlawful discharge of a firearm investigation regarding a shooting that occurred days prior. During the course of the investigation, deputies located and detained Daniel Malanche, a 19-year-old male from Wasco. Deputies also located a loaded firearm. Malanche was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for various felony weapons charges, participation in a criminal street gang, an active felony warrant, and additional misdemeanor drug charges.
