KCSO Makes Weapons and Narcotics Arrests

On January 22, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies located and arrested JEREMY JOHNSTON in the 2400 Block of Ashby Street. JOHNSTON had an active felony warrant for a home invasion robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies took JOHNSTON into custody without further incident.
 
Deputies conducted a search on JOHNSTON person and located a 9mm handgun on him, which was reported stolen to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies also located a large amount of narcotics inside of a backpack that JOHNSTON was in possession of. The narcotics included half a pound of suspected methamphetamine, 1.23 ounces of heroin, 150 pills of oxycodone pills, and 7.5 grams of cocaine base. A search of JOHNSTON’s residence was conducted and the following items were located: Approximately 300 rounds of ammunition with extended magazines, and explosives materials. JOHNSTON also had over $1,300 in US currency. JOHNSTON has multiple prior felony convictions.
 
Deputies also contacted EARL FORDYCE after he fled from the residence and hid in a neighbor’s yard. FORDYCE was taken into custody without further incident. A search of FORDYCE was conducted in which deputies located a .40 caliber handgun on him. A record check of the firearm revealed it was reported stolen to the City of Odessa in the state of Texas. FORDYCE was also in possession of a large amount of narcotics. The narcotics consisted of approximately 3.35 ounces of methamphetamine, 31.2 grams of black heroin, 9.12 grams of powdered heroin, and a digital scale. FORDYCE is a convicted felon and has a pending case for sales of narcotics.
 
Deputies booked FORDYCE and JOHNSON on multiple felony charges, including felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a controlled substance for sale while armed, resisting arrest and other charges.
