Crime Blotter for the Week of January 17-23, 2021

                                

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of January 17, 2021– January 23, 2021.        
 
January 17, 2021
  • Petty Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft from his unlocked vehicle near the 2600 Block of Willowglen Drive. On 01-17-01 at 3:29 am, unknown persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole two flashlights and a “FasTrak Pass.” A surveillance video of the incident was available. The estimated loss was $95.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 1500 Block of Huntington Drive. The victim’s Chevrolet Avalanche was stolen between 01-17-21, 9:00 pm, and 01-18-21, 7:00 pm from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. Carson Sheriff Station recovered the vehicle on 01-19-21. No one in custody.
 
January 18, 2021
  • Grand Theft Auto (Attempt):
A victim reported that unknown persons attempted to still his vehicle from the 900 Block of Junipero Drive. The victim’s Chevy Sierra steering wheel was damaged, exposing several wires. The incident occurred between 01-17-21, 7:00 pm, and 01-18-21, 5:35 am from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video.
  • Burglary (Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft near the 2000 Block of Citrus View Avenue. The victim stated between 01-17-21, 8:00 pm, and 01-18-21. 3:15 pm, an unknown person’s pried open the driver’s side door and stole a pair of sunglasses and the vehicle’s airbag. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $650.
 
January 19, 2021
  • Petty Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft from his unlocked vehicle near the 1100 Block of Huntington Drive. On 01-18-01, between 4:45 pm and 4:48 pm, unknown persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $300.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 1000 Block of Portola Drive. The victim’s Chevy Silverado was stolen between 01-17-21, 5:00 pm, and 01-19-21, 10:00 pm from the location. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. Irwindale Police Department recovered the vehicle on 01-22-21. No one in custody.
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 2000 Block of Central Avenue. The theft occurred on 01-19-21 at 6:45 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2006 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,500.

January 21, 2021
  • Grand Theft (Bike):
A victim reported their bike stolen near the 1500 Block of Duarte Road. The theft occurred on 01-20-21 between 6:40 am and 7:45 pm. Suspects cut the lock securing the victim’s black “Trek” FX3 to a fixed post. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,000.
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1500 Block of Duarte Road. The theft occurred on 01-21-21 between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2005 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,500.
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1500 Block of Duarte Road. The theft occurred on 01-21-21 between 9:30 am and 5:00 pm. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2005 Honda Civic. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,500.
 
January 22, 2021
  • Burglary (Vehicle):
A victim reported an attempted theft near the 900 Block of Mount Olive Drive. The victim stated on 01-22-21 at 12:12 am, he saw on three unknown persons on surveillance video attempted to enter his locked vehicle. The victim confronted the suspects, and they ran from the scene. Deputies searched the area for the suspects and located evidence related to the crime and video surveillance.
 
January 23, 2021
  • Petty Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1400 Block of Fairlee Avenue. The theft occurred between 01-22-21, 7:30 pm, and 01-23-21, 8:30 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s Ford F150. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $500.
  • Robbery (Firearm):
A victim reported he was robbed near the 700 Block of Encanto Parkway. At approximately 2:00 pm, the victim met two male adults he previously bought cell phones from with hopes of purchasing two additional iPhones. Upon meeting, one of the suspects pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded his money. The victim attempted to run from the incident and was knocked to the ground by the suspects. The suspects stole the victim’s money and jacket. The suspects fled the location in a Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $5000.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their vehicle stolen near the 1900 Block of Mountain Avenue. The victim’s Chevrolet Silverado was stolen between 01-22-21, 7:00 pm, and 01-23-21, 7:00 am. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The vehicle is still outstanding.

  • Plan your route ahead of time.  Never walk alone at night walk with a friend or your dong.
  • Use well-lit streets, not dark alleys or bushy areas.
  • Carry signaling devices like a shriek alarm or a whistle.
  • Carry defensive devices such as pepper spray.
  • Be alert of your surroundings.
