Sunnyvale Officers Rescue Victim of Human Trafficking, Arrest Three Suspects

On Monday, January 25 at 11:30 pm officers responded to the Motel 6 hotel located at 775 N. Mathilda Avenue on report of a woman screaming for help. Upon arrival, officers were able to locate and rescue a woman who stated she was a victim of human trafficking. Officers quickly identified and detained three potential suspects as they attempted to escape. During their investigation the officers determined that the suspects conspired to traffic the victim from Fresno to Sunnyvale. The three suspects were arrested for human trafficking and related charges and booked into the Santa Clara County jail.

Since 2010, the month of January has nationally been designated as Human Trafficking Prevention Month, a month dedicated to raising awareness on the different forms of human trafficking. It’s important for all of us to remember that we can all play a part in ending human trafficking. If you are a victim of human trafficking, we want you to know that there is help, please do not be too afraid to reach out for it. If you see something suspicious, or if you suspect someone may be the victim of human trafficking, please report your suspicions to law enforcement by calling 911 or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at (888) 373-7888
