High Wind and Rain Event This Week
From Tuesday - Thursday evening we will be under a high wind watch. For us that is primarily up in the hills and on Mt Diablo. Southerly winds are expected in the 15-30 mph range with gusts of 50-60 mph. Additionally, heavy rainstorms are expected this week with the forecast calling for an atmospheric river to hit the area. Reminder: when driving in the rain be sure to
* Slow down - give yourself extra space between you and the vehicle in front
* Lights on - if your windshield wipers are on, your headlights must be as well
* Beware of standing water - especially under bridges and overpasses. It could either cause you to lose control or it may be deeper than you think and knock out your engine.
With all this happening, I want to take a moment and remind you of a few tools you have to stay safe.
* Sandbag Station - If you are experiencing flooding on your property, the Town of Danville maintains a sandbag station at the Maintenance Services office, 1000 Sherburne Hills Rd. Shovels and bags are provided and households are asked to limit it to 20 bags each.
* Danville Connect - if you see tree limbs down, streetlights out, potholes, etc you can report those directly by using the Danville Connect app on your phone. The app is FREE and is available on both the iTunes and Google Play stores. You can take photos of the issue you are reporting. The photos are geotagged, making it easier for crews to check them out. Reports are routed to the correct department, for ease of resolution. Additionally, this app is very helpful in many other ways. It provides easy access to contact the Town Council, our publications, our social media and more.
