If you have a medical emergency call us immediately, don’t wait.
NEVER, NEVER, EVER use your hands to clear snow from a clogged snowblower. Use a stick or broom handle.
With Blizzard like conditions, trees and branches will blow down. With that comes the possibility of power outages. STAY AWAY from downed electrical lines. They may be energized even when they appear not to be. Report these problems to the Saddle River Police desk 201-327-5300 and stay away.
Many residents use portable generators for power during outages. The primary hazards to avoid when using a generator are carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from the toxic engine exhaust, electric shock or electrocution, and fire. Follow the directions supplied with the generator. Every year, people die in incidents related to portable generator use. Use caution to provide proper ventilation of exhaust gases from the generator. NEVER run a generator in the garage or any portion of a structure occupied by people or animals.
AVOID UNNECESSARY TRAVEL.
Residents are reminded to remove all vehicles from any Borough or County roadway during the storm and afterwards. This allows for the plow trucks and sanders to do jobs their more efficiently. It also leaves room for emergency vehicles to navigate the slippery roads during calls for service. If your vehicle becomes stuck in the snow, notify the Police desk immediately to arrange removal. Abandoned vehicles will be removed to impound so the plows and sanders can open the roadways for travel.
Any EMERGENCY can be reported through 9-1-1 or by calling the Saddle River Police directly at 201-327-5300.
