This is a message from the Matawan Office of Emergency Management:

A winter storm warning is in effect for our area until 10 am Tuesday, February 2nd. Snow accumulations of over 18 inches with wind gusts of 35 miles per hour are possible.  Significant impacts to travel will occur.  All non-essential travel is highly discouraged, especially tomorrow, when snowfall rates will be 1 to 2 inches per hour.
Please be reminded that local ordinance prohibits the parking of vehicles on any street within the Borough whenever snow covered and also mandates the clearing of sidewalks within twelve hours of daylight after the snow has fallen.  

Updated forecasts and information can be found via the Borough’s website (www.matawanborough.com) and on the Facebook pages of the Matawan Police Department and the Borough of Matawan-Office of Emergency Management.  

In the event of a power outage, residents are asked to notify Jersey Central Power and Light at 1-888-LIGHTS-S (1-888-544-4877).
