FINAL WINTER STORM UPDATE

That was quite a storm! While the snowfall is largely over, please remember that the State of Emergency remains in effect throughout New Jersey, so please continue to stay off the roads for any non-essential travel.

Thanks to our Public Works, Police, and Fire Departments for their preparation and hard work over the past two days to ensure public safety related to this storm. Most importantly, there were no storm-related injuries or damage to homes reported. Our DPW crews, who have been working non-stop since early Monday, did a wonderful job plowing the Town’s 380 roads. At this point, all roads have been plowed, and the majority of the main roads are down to blacktop. Given the sheer volume of snow that accumulated, there will naturally be some large piles on corners and around some driveways. 

In addition to roadways, the municipal lots have also been cleared. As our crews exceed 30+ consecutive hours of work, it’s time for them to grab some well-deserved rest this afternoon before they continue to tackle the Town-owned sidewalks and plowing touch-ups tomorrow. 

As a reminder, all sidewalks must be cleared by property owners within 24 hours after the snow has stopped falling. When doing so, throwing/tossing/blowing snow back into a plowed street is not permitted, as it impedes plowing work and contributes to icing on the roads. Thanks to all the residents and business owners who are already working on clearing their sidewalks.

We are also grateful to everyone who moved their cars off of the streets to help facilitate plowing. As DPW completes some touch-up passes over the next few hours, please continue to park off of the roads for the remainder of the afternoon.

As noted in our previous updates, curbside recycling for Zones 1 and 2 have both been rescheduled for Saturday, February 6. The normal collection schedule will resume tomorrow with Zone 3.
