C.V. Deputies Meet With Man They Saved
Last night, Crescenta Valley Station personnel hosted a dinner for an accident victim and the Deputies who saved him. On January 19, 2021, Deputies responded to the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Angeles Crest Highway regarding a man (Mike) who was trapped underneath his truck. Deputy Nand arrived first and saw the patient had stopped breathing. When assisting Deputies Olmos, Rostami, and Valencia arrived, they coordinated with two civilian bystanders to lift the truck off the patient and pull him to safety. He began to breathe again and was treated by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
After recovering from his injuries, the patient and his family were welcomed by station personnel for a dinner with the Deputies who had helped him. The patient thanked the Deputies and recounted the incident. “Normally, the fire department gets there first” Mike stated. “But, you guys came so fast.” He remembered the vehicle he was working under trapping him. But shortly after, he blacked out. The Deputies were thankful for the two civilians who helped their efforts to extract the patient. “Without the bystander’s quick actions, we may not have been able to save him” Captain Todd Deeds stated.
“The Deputies at our station work hard every day to serve the public” said Captain Deeds. “We are thankful this had a happy ending.”
