Crime Bulletin for the Week of January 25-31, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Tuesday, 01-26-21 at 1:12 a.m., Officer Graner cited a 24-year old Daly City resident for driving under the influence after he saw him driving erratically and without the vehicle’s headlights illuminated. This occurred near the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and John Daly Boulevard.

On Thursday, 01-28-21 at approximately 1:21 p.m., numerous officers were dispatched to a residence on the 500 block of Templeton Avenue on a report of an in-progress residential burglary. The dispatcher advised that two suspects had firearms in their possession. The reporting party/victim said she had returned home from running errands as saw an unknown vehicle parked in his driveway. The 66-year old victim walked up the stairway with her two grandchildren and son-in-law behind her and saw the gate and front door were open. When she got to the top of the staircase, the victim said an unknown male inside the house pointed a gun at her from the door and told them all to come inside the house. The victim said the suspect waved his gun toward the inside of the house, gesturing her to enter the house. The victim complied, and a second male suspect ordered the 47-year old son-in-law into living room and then went outside to retrieve the 2 and 5-year old grandchildren. That suspect told everyone to sit on the sofa, and the suspect stole jewelry from the son-in-law. The suspects asked the first victim if she had any money on her, and she said no. The second suspect took the son-in-law to the back bedroom, pointed a gun to his head and took his money. The victims could only identify the suspects as being black males who left in a dark vehicle. This investigation is continuing.

On Thursday, 01-28-21 at approximately 7:34 p.m., a 37-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after she was involved in a collision at Wembley Drive and Callan Boulevard.

On Friday, 01-29-21 at 6:50 p.m., Officer Abuan was dispatched to a report of a possible intoxicated driver of a gray Toyota Tacoma who was hitting curbs and driving onto sidewalks near Crocker Avenue and Point Pacific Drive. Officer Smith joined Officer Abuan, and they saw a vehicle matching the description parked near the intersection of Crocker Avenue and South Hill Boulevard. Officer Abuan knocked on the driver’s side window, and it took approximately 30 seconds for the driver to wake up. The officers could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, and they subsequently arrested the 49-year old driver from Daly City for driving under the influence.

On Friday, 01-29-21 at approximately 11:00 p.m., a 41-year old San Francisco resident was cited for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, and carrying a loaded firearm not registered in his name. This occurred following a pedestrian stop for jaywalking in the area of John Daly Boulevard and Lake Merced Boulevard.

On Sunday, 01-31-21 at approximately 1:17 a.m., Officer Risslen conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on the 6900 block of Mission Street. Officer Risslen walked up to the vehicle and immediately smelled a strong odor of marijuana. A 22-year old San Francisco resident was subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of a firearm and ammunition while being a prohibited person, having a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of over one ounce of marijuana.

Robberies

There were two robberies during the past week

On Tuesday, 01-26-21 at approximately 2:41 p.m., a 19-year old cashier at the Boston Market said a subject who she thought was a customer presented to her what she thought was a firearm hidden under a black cloth. The subject told the cashier to give him all of the money and to not say anything. The victim said she didn’t want to give the suspect the money but gave him all of the money in the register when the suspect kept pointing the “firearm” at her. The victim said the suspect slowly walked out of the store and began running towards the In N Out restaurant. The victim could not identify the suspect’s race, but she said he had “brownish” skin, was between 30-40 years old, possibly bald, heavy set, and wore a beanie, a dark colored face mask, a tan over-sized jacket and dark colored jeans. This investigation is continuing.

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there.
