SUBJECT: Howell Woman Arrested on Charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting Arrest and Endangering the Welfare of a Child
DATE/TIME: February 2nd 2021 @ 10:00 pm

LOCATION: State Highway 66 and Cedar Village Boulevard

OFFICERS INVOLVED: Officers Dane Richards, Brendan Bernhard, Samantha Conners and Michael Jones

ACCUSED: Anteirah Mitchell 26 year old female // Howell, NJ

NARRATIVE:

On February 2nd, 2021 Officer Dane Richards stopped a motor vehicle at approximately 10:00pm on State Highway 66 in the area of Cedar Village Boulevard. Officer Richards made contact with the driver who was identified as Anteirah Mitchell of Howell, New Jersey. Also in the vehicle were an adult male passenger and a juvenile passenger that was sleeping in a rear seat. Officer Richards was assisted by Officer Michael Jones and later Officers Brendan Bernhard and Samantha Conners.

Investigation revealed that Mitchell had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated and that she had done so knowingly while responsible for the care of the juvenile. When officers attempted to place Mitchell under arrest, she resisted officer control by tensing her body and pulling away from officers. Mitchell was charged with Driving While intoxicated, Resisting Arrest, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and various other motor vehicle violations. She was processed and later released on a criminal summons pending initial court appearance. The juvenile was taken into custody and at the direction of the Department of Child Protection & Permanency, was placed in the temporary custody of a family member.
