Dangerous Cold Across Northern Iowa Today into Sunday... .A series of quick moving storms will cross the region this weekend, bringing several rounds of light to moderate snowfall mainly to southern Iowa. Temperatures and wind chills will also drop to dangerous levels into next week. The current Wind Chill Advisories this weekend will likely be expanded to cover most or all of Iowa for much of the next week.
* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, additional snow accumulations of up to two inches. For the Wind Chill Advisory, very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 30 below zero.
* WHERE...Portions of central Iowa.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM CST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slick and hazardous road conditions, along with reduced visibility during heaviest periods of snowfall this morning and afternoon. The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes by Sunday morning.
* AFFECTED AREAS: MAHASKA ... JASPER ... POWESHIEK ... POLK
