Los Alamitos Police Department Investigating Medical Aid Call for Service.

PRESS RELEASE

(LOS ALAMITOS, CALIF.) – The Los Alamitos Police Department is investigating a medical aid call for service which evolved into a hazardous materials incident.

At approximately 8:29 a.m. Los Alamitos Police Department Officers responded to the area of Farquhar Ave. and Maple St. regarding a call for a medical aid. Officers arrived on scene and located two individuals in need of medical attention. Officers administered CPR to both individuals until Orange County Fire Authority arrived. One individual was transported to a local hospital by paramedics to receive treatment. Unfortunately, the second individual was pronounced deceased at the scene by Orange County Fire Authority.

During the initial investigation, officers encountered what appeared to be a drug lab. Residents in the building were evacuated and roadways were closed as a precautionary safety measure for our community. Due to the critical nature of drug labs, Orange County Fire Authority’s Hazmat Team and additional resources were called and rendered the scene safe.

Officers located and seized a sizable amount of narcotics from the scene. The identity of the deceased individual is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. The subject transported to the hospital is expected to make a full recovery and all dangerous materials were removed from the location.
