UPDATE/ARREST: Man brandished a handgun at a victim in a grocery store parking lot and stole her purse

UPDATE:
Since January 22, 2021, Yucaipa detectives have been working in conjunction with Fontana Police Department detectives and together they were able to identify three suspects in a series of armed robberies occurring in the cities of Fontana, Redlands and Yucaipa.
On Thursday, February 11, 2021, Fontana Police detectives arrested Wakeen Canty, Cyndelle Arias and Lila Downs. Three search warrants were served at their residences and weapons likely used in the commission of the crimes were recovered, as well as personal property taken from the Yucaipa victim.
At the completion of the investigation, all three suspects were booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Armed Robbery.

SUMMARY:
On January 22, 2021, at 4:07 pm., deputies from the Yucaipa Station responded to the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred in the parking lot in the 33600 block of Yucaipa Blvd. Upon arrival, deputies were advised by the victim that she was loading her groceries into the back of her SUV when the suspect retrieved a black semi-auto handgun from his waist and ordered her to put her purse down on the ground. The suspect then instructed her to enter her vehicle through the driver-side door. As she started to walk to the vehicle's driver-side, the suspect grabbed her purse and ran toward a parked vehicle. The suspect got into the vehicle and fled on Yucaipa Blvd.
The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 40 years of age, wearing a black hat, black shirt, a black puffy jacket and black shorts. The vehicle was described as a maroon-colored, late model sedan.
