On February 12, 2021 at about 1:30pm, Fairfield Police Dispatch began receiving phone calls regarding a possible shooting in the 1900 block of Grande Circle. Responding personnel located a male subject with gunshot wounds and immediately rendered aid. Officers initiated CPR until fire and medical personnel arrived on scene and took over. The local 22 year old male victim was transported to an area hospital, but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Our Investigations Bureau has responded out and is taking over the incident. At this time it appears the male victim contacted a group, and an altercation occurred resulting in a shooting. We are investigating whether this is gang related, but have no information to indicate either way at this time. Investigators will be on scene for an extended period of time, and the public is asked to avoid the area until they have cleared.
