Winter Storm Warning until 12:00AM Tuesday

...A Major Winter Storm is Expected to Impact the Mid-South Sunday Afternoon through Monday Evening... .A potent upper level trough will move into the Mid-South Sunday Afternoon into Monday. With cold temperatures already in place, winter precipitation is expected to fall across the entire Mid- South. Light wintry precipitation will begin to move in as early as the morning hours on Sunday. Impacts will be minimal through midday. During the afternoon hours, heavier precipitation will spread into the area continuing into the evening. A brief lull will then occur before a second round of heavier precipitation moves in on Monday.

* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow and sleet expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 5 to 7 inches. For the Wind Chill Advisory, very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 5 below zero.

* WHERE...Portions of West Tennessee, East Arkansas and Southeast the Missouri Bootheel.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from noon Sunday to midnight CST Monday night. For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 10 PM this evening to noon CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Prolonged exposure could cause damage to exposed skin in 30 minutes or less. The cold air will also impact young livestock and pets.
