Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 02/13/2021 at approximately 2150 hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash near the 57000 blk of Patterson Hill Rd, in Newberg Township, Cass County Michigan. Investigation shows that 19-year-old, Michael Schlup Dowagiac, MI resident, was attempting to turn into a driveway and struck a tree. Schlup was transported to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac MI for medical concerns. It is not known if Schlup had his seatbelt on. Drugs or medical reasons may have been a factor in the traffic crash. Cass County Sheriffs Office was assisted by Newburg Township Fire and Ambulance.
