The Way Home – Homeless Intervention Team Assists Homeless Man Return Home
The City’s Homeless Intervention Team had another success in reuniting a chronically homeless gentleman back with family members last week. The gentleman had been homeless since at least March 2018. During that time, he had been arrested several times, most recently in November.
Officer Neal was able to get the gentleman in contact with a family member who was willing to take him in. Utilizing their Kaiser grant funds, HIT was able to purchase a Greyhound ticket to reunite him with family in San Diego, and utilizing the other funds, provide him lunch money. It is small victories like these that truly make an impact on our journey to permanently reduce homelessness.
