ENERGY EMERGENCY ALERT

Member Update | February 16, 2021 | 6:00 PM

While the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) has lowered the threat of rolling blackouts for the remainder of the evening, we are still asking our members to continue to conserve during this unprecedented cold weather. Not only does your conservation help the regional power grid, but it also helps lighten the load on our local grid as well. Due to these extremely low temperatures over an extended period, our local power grid is under severe stress. Our employees are working around the clock to ensure the reliability of our system but we can still use the help of our members’ conservative efforts.

Conserving on electricity helps prevent equipment from overloading and potentially failing, causing unnecessary outages. Our linemen will be working throughout the night to combat these problems.

Help us cut back on energy demands by:

-Lowering your thermostat 1-2 degrees
-Alternate using dryer, oven, and dishwasher
-Minimizing the use of non-essential appliances
-Utilizing alternative heating fuels

Together, we can make it through this unprecedented winter weather storm.
