Crime Bulletin for the Week of February 8-14, 2021
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Notable Cases
On Monday, 02-08-21 at 6:29 p.m., Officer Martin and Officer Brenes were dispatched to a residence on the unit block of Ridgefield Avenue on a medical call where someone was possibly in cardiac arrest and believed to be a coroner’s case. The 16-year old patient was in the back of an ambulance receiving treatment by medical personnel who said the subject had overdosed, was given Narcan and was to be transported to the hospital. Officer Brenes found a small Glock firearm in the 16-year old’s sock on his left foot. The firearm had a loaded magazine, but the chamber was empty. Officer Martin transported the subject to the police station after the subject was medically cleared from the hospital. The subject is on probation from San Mateo County and was subsequently arrested for carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of an unregistered firearm, failure to obey a court order, and committing an adult offense while being a juvenile.
On Monday, 02-08-21 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Officer Fulmore was dispatched to the Walgreen’s store on San Pedro Road on a report of a just-occurred robbery. The pharmacy clerk reported that two black male adults jumped into the pharmacy area and that the employees fled and were hiding in the electrical room. A witness called the dispatch center and said he followed one of the suspects and pointed to a subject hiding in an entry way to a residence on the 100 block of Station Avenue. Officer Fulmore and Officer Haas approached the suspect and noticed he had a large white bag covered inside a brown hoodie that was leaking some type of liquid that smelled very strong like cough syrup. Officer Haas asked the subject if he lived at the residence, and the suspect said he did. The officer asked him what the address was, and he said the suspect was unable to tell him the numerical address or the street address. The officers told the subject he matched the description of someone who committed a crime, and the suspect smiled and admitted to robbing the Walgreen’s. The suspect, a 16-year old Citrus Heights resident, was transported to the San Mateo County Juvenile Hall and booked for second degree robbery and committing an adult offense as a juvenile. The investigation is still continuing.
On Tuesday, 02-09-21 at 6:22 p.m., subsequent to a traffic stop by Officer Risslen on the 3200 block of Geneva Avenue, a 29-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm not being the registered owner, possession of methamphetamine for sales, transportation of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and possession over an ounce of marijuana. The subject’s female passenger, 29-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for embezzlement of a rental vehicle.
On Wednesday, 02-10-21 at 7:07 p.m., several officers were dispatched to Accacia Street and Ottilia Street on a report of an assault that occurred six minutes prior. The reporting party/victim said she was walking on Schwerin Street, south of Ottilia Street, towards the Dollar Tree store when she was punched in the face three times by an unknown male clad in all black who tried to steal her backpack from her back, but he was unsuccessful. The suspect was last seen running west on Ottilia Street. The 44-year old victim suffered pain and swelling to her face and was transported to Seton Hospital. The investigation is continuing.
On Sunday, 02-14-21 at approximately 4:34 p.m., a 24-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for driving a vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and causing great bodily injury. His passenger, a 19-year old San Francisco resident, sustained a serious injury to his left eye and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital. This occurred following a traffic collision on the 400 block of John Daly Boulevard. The driver was also arrested for obstructing and resisting an executive officer after he threatened Officer Smith. Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
