Manhattan Avenue Street Closure Tips

The community is reminded of an ongoing street closure on Manhattan Avenue, between Manhattan Beach Boulevard and 12th Street, to allow for additional social distancing at restaurants offering outdoor dining in the public right-of-way. While the road will be accessible for pedestrian use, vehicle access will be closed, with Center Place remaining open for IG_FB - Street Closure Paid Advertisement (2)east-west LOCAL traffic only. The street closure will remain in effect until further notice, subject to an assessment by the City. Here are some tips to remember during the closure

  1. Use Highland Avenue, Valley Drive and Ardmore Avenue for north/south travel. Avoid driving on Manhattan Avenue if possible.
  2. Use nearby parking lots instead of street parking. Ten parking lots are located in the downtown area.
  3. Take advantage of open seating areas dedicated to curbside pick-up & take-out orders.
  4. Follow the direction of traffic control officers located on Manhattan Beach Boulevard at Highland Avenue and Manhattan Avenue during peak times.
  5. Use the newly-installed scramble crosswalks correctly. Cross in crosswalks and diagonally during walk times only.
  6. No parking zones are strictly enforced. If you need to pick-up food, please use designated loading zones on each side of the street closure on Manhattan Beach Boulevard and 12th street.
  7. Metlox Plaza has 450 parking spaces available for public use and everything is within a 5 minute walk. Use them for your benefit!
  8. Center Place is open for residential and emergency access use only. Staff will be controlling access during peak times to ensure Center Place is used appropriately.

The City thanks residents and business community for their patience with this endeavor and hopes that the non-holiday weekend will have minimal impacts. As always, show that local love, MB. Support our local businesses by shopping, dining, and staying in Manhattan Beach.
