CITY OF MITCHELLVILLE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
SANITARY SEWER REHABILITIATION PROJECT:
YEAR(S) 2013 TO 2017                    COST: $1,062,514
This project was mandated by the EPA.  The City had too much inflow and infiltration of ground water into our sewer system (if you were living here in 2013 you may remember that we had to enter every residence to check the sewer connections.)  All the sewer mains were re-lined in two phases.  Phase One was the north side, completed in 2015.  Phase Two was the south side, completed in 2017.     
WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM PROJECTS:
PHASE ONE:        YEAR(S) 2015 TO 2019                    COST:  $1,107,704
PHASE TWO:       YEAR(S) 2018 THRU 2021               COST:  $1,030,106
Phase One replaced the old water mains on 4^th St NW and Elm NW.  Phase Two replaced the following old water mains: 2^nd St NW, parts of 3^rd & 5^th St NW, Walnut Ave and 1^st St NW.  A grant was received to help with 40% of the costs for Phase Two.  The City has started the grant process for Phase Three, which is still in the design stage.  We anticipate construction to start in Spring/Summer of 2022.
WASTEWATER FACILITY IMPROVEMENT UV DISINFECTION PROJECT:
YEARS(S) 2015 TO 2021                  COST (TO DATE): $1,132,107
This project was mandated by the DNR.  It involved a required update to our sewer plant.  This project was delayed last Spring due to COVID, but is almost wrapped up.
NEW LIFT STATION PROJECT:
YEARS(S) 2016 TO 2021      COST (TO DATE): $243,426      ESTIMATED TOTAL COST:  $2,200,000
The City’s lift station is on 6^th Ave NE and it needs replaced.  Plans were started in 2016 to build a new lift station on Jasper Ave north of Deer Run.  The City applied for a grant, which delayed the project for a year.  We were not awarded the grant.  Other delays to the project included work getting the necessary easements and the need to re-design the project.  This project is scheduled to break ground this Spring with an estimated completion date of May 2021.
DEER RUN COLLECTION SYSTEM PROJECT:
YEARS(S) 2016 TO 2025
This is Phase Two lift station project.  The smaller sewer mains in the Deer Run development will be replaced and the systems removed to allow for connection to the new sewer system.  Estimated cost is $1,200,000.  The project is not yet scheduled, but anticipate 2023.
ROADS
Since 2016, the City has spent $2,232,161 on capital improvements to the roads in Mitchellville.  Tentative schedule for the remaining roads: 
2021 - 6^th St NE from Center to Vine, Vine NE from 4^th to 6^th NE. 
2022 – Oak NE from 2^nd to 4^th NE, Arch NE from Oak to Vine, Mill St from Elm to Center. 
2023 – High St SW from Center to Elm, Market SW from Jet to Mill, Mitchell SW from High to Mill. 
2024 – Center Ave S from Mill to Jet.       2025 – 6^th St from Cotton to Center, 3^rd St NE from Center to Jasper.
