TWO INJURED IN HOWARD TOWNSHIP CRASH

TWO INJURED IN HOWARD TOWNSHIP CRASH

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke advises that his Office responded to a two vehicle accident with injuries in the intersection of Carberry and Yankee.

Peggy Raschke of Niles advised that she had turned into Yankee from Huntley Rd and had forgotten that her right turn signal was still on. Samantha Butler of Galien was intending to cross Yankee from Carberry Rd and continue south. Butler said that she saw the turn signal activated on Raschke's vehicle and thought that she was in the process of turning when she pulled out from the stop where she had been waiting for traffic to clear. Raschke's vehicle struck the driver's side of Butler's, resulting in non-life threatening injuries to two of Butler's minor children. Raschke also sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Butler's two children went by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital. Raschke went by ambulance to Lakeland Niles.

The Howard Township Fire Department, Pride Care, SMACS Ambulance, and Edwardsburg Ambulance assisted the Sheriff's Office at the crash scene. Alcohol and/or drugs are not a factor in the crash and all parties were wearing their safety restraints. The incident remains under investigation.
