Crime Blotter for the Week of February 14-20, 2021

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of February 14, 2021– February 20, 2021.        

February 14, 2021

  • Burglary (Business):
A victim reported a theft at 1144 Huntington Drive (EZ Smoke). The victim stated on 02-14-21, between 1:35 am and 1:50 am, he was contacted by his alarm company of an interior motion sensor activation. When the victim entered his business, he saw a hole cut in the roof of the business. Unknown persons entered the store through the hole and stole 100 glass pipes and a lighter. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $2,219.
 
February 15, 2021
  • Burglary (Business):
A victim reported a theft at 1327 Huntington Drive (99 Cents Store). The victim stated on 02-15-21, at approximately 6:30 pm, a male adult entered an unsecured break room and stole two backpacks and a purse. The suspect walked out of the front of the store without further incident. Surveillance video captured the incident. The estimated loss was $1,705.
  • Petty Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):
A victim reported a theft from her unlocked vehicle near the 60 Block of Las Lomas Road. On 02-15-21, at approximately 12:38 pm, the victim left her purse on the front seat when she was unloading groceries. When the victim returned to her vehicle, she noticed an unknown person had stolen her purse. Deputies located surveillance video, but it was low in quality. The estimated loss was $133.
 
February 16, 2021
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 2500 Block of Fernley Drive. The theft occurred between 02-12-21, 6:00 pm, and 02-16-21, 8:00 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2007 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $2,700.
 
February 17, 2021
  • Grand Theft (Purse):
A victim reported a theft at 910 Hamilton Road (El Picosito Taqueria). On 02-17-21 at 6:30 pm, the victim was eating dinner on the restaurant’s patio when a male adult ran towards the victim and stole her purse from her lap, and there was no struggle. The suspect ran towards Mountain Avenue and out of view. Surveillance video captured the incident. The estimated loss was $400.
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1700 Block of Huntington Drive. The theft occurred between 02-15-21, 11:00 pm, and 02-17-21, 8:30 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2007 Honda Prius. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,000.
 
February 18, 2021
  • Burglary (California School Of The Arts):
On 02-18-21, 12:24 am, a burglary alarm was activated at the school (room 112). Upon Deputies arrival, they contacted a female adult inside the classroom. Deputies questioned the female, and she gave conflicting statements for being at the school and in the classroom.Deputies searched the area and found tools near the suspect that could be used to force entry into the classroom. Based on the Deputies investigation, they arrested the suspect for burglary. At the time of the report, the loss was unknown.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported their trailer stolen near the 1400 Block of Highland Avenue. The victim’s cargo trailer was stolen between 12-20-20, 8:00 am and 02-07-21, 11:00 am. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The vehicle is still outstanding.
 
February 19, 2021
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1100 Block of Bradbourne Avenue. The theft occurred between 02-18-21, 9:30 pm, and 02-19-21, 9:30 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $2,500.
 
February 20, 2021
  • Burglary (Business):
On 02-20-21, 5:44 am, a burglary alarm was activated at 1501 Huntington Drive (Morralito Mexican). Upon Deputies arrival, they noticed the front door was ajar. Deputies searched the interior of the business, which appeared ransacked. Deputies were unable to contact the owner of the company or a representative. At the time of the report, the loss was unknown.

  • Turn on encryption. Encryption scrambles information that you send over the internet so other people cannot access it.
  • Rename your router, change the name of the manufacturer’s default to something only you know.
  • Change the password, create a new password with a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.
