Investigation at City Park leads to the arrest of one adult and three juveniles for felony burglary

On Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at about 7:20 am, Cloverdale Police Officers responded to 450 W 2nd Street (City Park) on a report that someone was inside the Scout Hut building with the lights on.   Upon arrival, Officers observed a fire extinguisher lying on the ground believed to be from inside the building.  Officers located an adult male, identified as Vincent Taylor 18, Cloverdale, Ca., one juvenile male age 17, and two juvenile females ages 16, walking away from the building.  As the officers attempted to contact the four subjects, the male juvenile took foot bail and began running toward a nearby hill.  Officers searched the area and later located him in a residence and upon apprehension, the juvenile resisted arrest by fighting with the officers.  He was eventually taken into custody.

During the investigation, Officers learned the four subjects broke into the building through a window sometime during the night, and once inside, they sprayed painted graffiti and caused significant damage to tables, chairs, couches, banners, and trophies belonging to the 4H girls and Girl Scouts.

City Parks Department staff arrived on the scene to assess the damage and based on their initial observations, the items inside were destroyed beyond repair.   The preliminary cost for cleanup and replacement of the damaged items is estimated at $21,000-$25,000.

As a result of the investigation, Vincent Taylor was placed under arrest and transported to the Sonoma County Jail where he was booked for Felony Burglary, Felony Vandalism, and Conspiracy.

The three juveniles were arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall and booked for Felony Burglary, Felony Vandalism, and Conspiracy.

The male juvenile was also charged with resisting arrest.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Officer Carlos Nunez at 707-894-2150.
