At 1050 am this morning a hit and run collision involving a DUI driver occurred on Fifer Avenue near Lucky Drive. A BMW occupied by an older couple was suddenly rear ended by a Chevy Camaro, and the impact of the crash left both cars inoperable. The Chevy driver immediately ran away from the scene, and a witness called 9-1-1 with a good description of the suspect. Within just minutes officers found him on Lucky Drive near the Town of Corte Madera Corporation Yard. The suspect ran a short distance from the officers and then engaged them in a violent struggle before he was taken into custody.

Two officers suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. The occupants of the BMW were also treated at the scene and will seek further care on their own. The adult male driver of the Chevy was arrested for Felony DUI causing injury, battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. He was booked at Marin County Jail. The road was closed briefly during the collision investigation.
