Pacific Union College (PUC) to Conduct Controlled Burn Tuesday, March 2, from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Pacific Union College is scheduled to conduct a 13.4 acre controlled burn Tuesday 3/2 on their demonstration and experimental forest property off of Las Posadas Rd. in Angwin.
The project is designed to improve the health of the forest, promote native species diversity, and bolster the existing fuel break along the ridge line that is in place to help protect the community in the event of a wildfire.
This prescribed burn is being conducted in coordination with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and all area fire agencies have been notified. Please do not call 911 to report smoke, which is expected to be visible in the area for approximately seven hours. After the project is concluded Tuesday afternoon, crews will continue to patrol and monitor the area overnight into Wednesday.
