Crime Alert Bulletin for the Week of February 22-28, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 02-22-21 at approximately 5:46 p.m., a 58-year old transient subject was arrested for arson of an inhabited dwelling after he intentionally caused a fire in the microwave at the El Camino Inn. The fire department responded to extinguish the fire.

On Monday, 02-22-21 at approximately 10:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on the unit block of Fieldcrest Drive on a report of a man with a gun. The reporting party (victim) said she heard a loud crash in her house and saw two unknown males with a gun in her kitchen. The reporting party said she locked herself and her family (two young children and her common-law husband) in the bedroom. The 36-year old victim said once they were in the bedroom, she heard the subjects banging on the door, attempting to force their way in, and she was unsure if the subjects had left the residence. Officer Reininger arrived first on scene and saw that the front door was opened forcibly. The officers surrounded the perimeter of the residence and conducted a protective sweep of the residence. The subjects were no longer inside the residence, but the officers found in plain sight a safe, a cash counting machine, large amounts of cash bundled and separated by denominations, a large amount of marijuana in a bag, and pallets of suspected cultivation equipment imported from China. The officer asked the victim what her husband did for a living, and at first the victim hesitated to say, but she admitted that he was into “cultivation”. There were actually five unknown suspects involved in this case, and it is under investigation.

On Tuesday, 02-23-21 at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Westlake Shopping Center on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. The reporting party/victim said she was struck by her ex-boyfriend who intentionally hit her while he was driving his van in the parking lot. The 40-year old victim suffered a laceration to her eye as well as other possible injuries and was taken to the hospital. The suspect, a 58-year old Pacifica resident, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting violence upon a spouse/cohabitant.

On Tuesday, 02-23-21 at 3:32 p.m., a 60-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for transporting and possession of cocaine base for sale, possession of a counterfeit bill, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with an expired driver's license. His passenger, a 50-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and was reported as a missing person from San Francisco. This occurred following a traffic enforcement stop near Mission Street and Wilson Street.

On Tuesday, 02-23-21 at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of Vista Grande Avenue on a report of a just-occurred robbery. The 57-year old victim said she had just returned home from work and used the garage door opener from her vehicle and pulled into the garage. The victim said she parked her car in the garage and got out of her vehicle. The victim said she was holding her purse in one hand and a reusable tote bag in her other hand and immediately walked out of the garage, intending to walk up the front stairs of her house. After the victim closed the garage door using the remote control, she took several steps in her driveway when she noticed a subject running toward her. The victim said the subject approached her and grabbed her tote bag. The victim said she began to scream, and the suspect got into the backseat of an awaiting vehicle (possibly a white four door sedan), which was last seen fleeing west on Vista Grande Avenue toward the BART station. The victim could only describe the suspect an unknown race male in his 20’s, about 5’0, 100 lbs., wearing an unknown color hat, black face mask, black jacket, and black pants. The victim retained her purse was not physically harmed. This investigation is continuing.

On Tuesday, 02-23-21 at approximately 8:42 p.m., Officer N. McCarthy conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Washington Street and the entrance of the In N Out Burger parking lot. The driver of the vehicle exited the vehicle, jumped a chain link fence and ran northbound through a thick area of brush that parallels southbound highway 280. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
