March 3, 2021 Knowlton Coronavirus & Vaccine Update

This week Warren County is reporting 252 new COVID-19 cases since last week, for an average of 36 cases per day over the last week, up from 24 cases per day last week.   Knowlton has had 164 cases with 154 recoveries.  
The State of NJ received 70,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week; 100 of those were distributed to Warren County and will be used for homebound individuals.
 
From the County:
Warren County is expanding COVID-19 testing at the County site located at St. Luke's Belvidere Health Center, 187 County Route 519 Belvidere, NJ, 07823.  Testing has been limited to symptomatic individuals.  It will now be expanded to include non-symptomatic persons needing testing for travel or return to school.  Appointments can be made here: http://www.co.warren.nj.us/Healthdept/WCCOVIDTestingInfo.html

From the State:
The state will be greatly expanding who can receive a COVID-19 vaccine in the next few weeks. 
Beginning March 15, NJ residents eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine will include:

  • K-12 educators and support staff
  • Childcare workers in licensed and registered settings
  • Public and local transportation workers, including bus, taxi, and airport employees, NJ Transit workers and Motor Vehicle Commission staff
  • Public safety workers who are fire safety inspectors and probation officers
  • Migrant farm workers
  • Members of tribal communities
  • Homeless persons, including those in shelters
Beginning March 29, NJ residents in the following industries will be eligible:
  • Workers in food production, agriculture, and food distribution
  • Social services support staff
  • Elections personnel
  • Hospitality
  • Medical supply chain
  • Postal and shipping services
  • Clergy
  • Judicial System
Beginning March 29, vaccine eligibility will also be extended to individuals ages 16 to 64 with the following medical conditions:
  • Asthma (moderate-to-severe)
  • Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain)
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Hypertension or high blood pressure
  • Immunocompromised state from blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, or use of other immune weakening medicines
  • Neurologic conditions, such as dementia
  • Liver disease
  • Overweight (those with BMIs greater than 25 but less than 30; obese residents were already eligible)
  • Pulmonary fibrosis (having damaged or scarred lung tissues)
  • Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
  • Type 1 diabetes
