Yesterday, a member of the Sheriff’s elite COBRA strike force received a look out from Clayton County Dispatch for units to be on the lookout for a white male that matched the description of a armed robbery suspect that was seen on the Henry County Police Department’s Facebook page. The suspect robbed someone at gun point off the side of the interstate after posing as a helpless driver stuck on the side of the road. The suspect was seen driving a silver chevrolet SUV. 

COBRA began patrolling I-75 in Clayton looking for the vehicle and observed the silver SUV on the side of the entrance ramp to I-75 South coming from Old Dixie Rd.  The suspect  in question was actually on the passenger side of a vehicle speaking with a driver. When the armed robber suspect identified as Nicolae Gunici noticed a Deputy pulling up, he waved the car away and began walking towards the Deputy. COBRA and Black Hawk Deputies recognized the suspect instantly and quickly placed him into custody.  No doubt these Deputies prevented another robbery from taking place!

Gunici was turned over to Henry County Police where he is now facing armed robbery charges.  Unfortunately, Gunici avoided facing the wall at “The Hill-ton” and spending time at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail.
